Professional Background

Cassie Dove has dedicated her career to service, education, and protecting Maine communities.

She is a retired U.S. Coast Guard radio and rescue coordinator who served at stations throughout Maine. After retiring from the Coast Guard, Cassie returned to education, teaching at Sacopee Valley schools and Maine’s community colleges while completing her Ph.D. in Education. Her doctoral research focused on U.S. veterans with learning disabilities navigating higher education.

Today, Dr. Dove is an instructor at the University of Southern Maine, where she teaches cybersecurity and technical communication. 

Cassie is an active member of her community. People know who she is and the work she does. Cassie and her daughter moved to Baldwin in 2005 and have called the area home ever since. From being involved in local schools to creating the Community Band, Cassie has remained connected to the people and communities around her.

She believes our representatives should be actively working on the issues that matter to the people they serve.

She plans to strengthen cybersecurity for schools and businesses in Maine, as well as work toward creating a program that helps keep Maine teachers in Maine.

Most importantly, Cassie is actively working with the town of Denmark and local residents on concerns surrounding Poland Spring and large-scale water extraction. Currently she is working with 5 towns to put in Ai moratoriums to protect Maine from AI Data center development and she will continue working to make sure local communities have a voice.

For more than 20 years, Cassie has called Baldwin home and understands the importance of protecting Maine’s water resources. As a fisherman, outdoorswoman, and small horse farm owner who relies on a well, she knows how essential clean, reliable water is to our communities.


After attending an August 18 meeting in Denmark, Cassie heard residents’ concerns about Poland Spring’s groundwater extraction and its potential impact on Long Pond, local wells, and aquifers. She continues to research the issue and listen to affected residents.


At the legislative level, Cassie will advocate for stronger oversight, greater transparency, and a meaningful voice for local communities in decisions about their natural resources. Protecting Maine’s water means protecting it for future generations.

Communities across Southern Maine are raising concerns about the potential environmental and economic impacts of large-scale AI data centers. Although the Maine Legislature passed a statewide moratorium, Governor Mills vetoed the legislation, leaving local communities to consider their own regulations.


Residents have expressed concerns about the potential effects on water resources, electricity demand, air quality, noise levels, and property values. While data centers can create construction jobs and economic opportunities, questions remain about their long-term employment benefits and environmental impacts, including the use of diesel backup generators.


Cassie believes communities deserve transparency and a meaningful voice in decisions about large-scale developments that could affect their land, resources, and quality of life.
